Find Outlets in the Journalist Database

Search for Outlets

Navigate to the journalist database by clicking on Tools and then selecting “Journalist Database”:

Click on the Outlets tab:

There are two search fields that can be used to search for outlets. One at the at the top of the page and another at the center of the page. Type in either place to begin your outlet search:

Search Results

The search will initiate after you finish typing. Outlets will be listed in alphabetical order and show the Outlet name, UVM (if available), total number of journalists that have written an article for the outlet, and the total number of articles:

Outlet Dig Deeper

Click anywhere on the outlet row to open the Dig Deeper panel for the outlet. The Dig Deeper will show the outlet URL, UVM (if available), journalists within the last 3 months, and recent articles:

View Additional Journalists

Any journalist that has written an article for the outlet in the last 3 months will be shown by default. Click on the drop down to reveal additional journalists from the last 6 months, or 12 months:

Use the pagination to click through and see additional journalists:

Add a Journalist to Your Media List

Select the “Add” button that appears when hovering over a journalist’s name to add the journalist to one of your Media Lists:

Click on any journalist to see the Dig Deeper panel with additional information about that journalist. You can also add the journalist to your Media List from this view by clicking on the plus icon:

Explore Articles

At the bottom of the Recent Articles section of the Outlet Dig Deeper panel, there is an “Explore Articles” button. Click it to open the Explore articles panel:

At the top of the panel, you’ll see a search bar where you can include or exclude keywords to find relevant themes within articles:

Click on the outlet name to view the article in a new tab:

If you would like to edit your outlet search at any point, click into the search field at the top of the page and make any adjustments. Your search will update as you finish typing:
